Seven schools in the metro are leaving their current athletic conferences and forming the Metro West, the new league announced on Tuesday.
The league, set to debut in 2014, will include Chaska, Chanhassen, Robbinsdale Cooper, Richfield, St. Louis Park, Bloomington Jefferson and Bloomington Kennedy.
Chaska and Chanhassen are leaving the Missota Conference, Cooper and St. Louis Park are saying goodbye to the North Suburban Conference, and the Bloomington schools are departing the South Suburban Conference. Richfield is leaving the Classic Suburban Conference.
The Metro West will be accepting an eighth school, according to the Pioneer Press.
