Dayton doubts latest plan to pay for Vikings stadium
Gov. Dayton said Monday that the latest proposal to cover the state's share of a new Vikings stadium would rely on a form of illegal gambling known as tip boards. "It doesn’t strike me at first glance as a viable option," he said at a Capitol press conference.
With stadium proposals in, next move will be Dayton's
Stadium proposals landed on Mark Dayton's desk Thursday and the governor says he may pick a favorite next week. Minneapolis promised to kick in $6.5 million per year if the Vikings choose to stay in the city. Ramsey County, meanwhile, hiked its contribution to an Arden Hills site by another $75 million and boosted the total price tag over $1.1 billion by including road improvements.
Architecture bids in on Vikings stadium
Five national architectural and engineering firms have submitted renderings and plans for a new $975 million Vikings stadium. The finalists include Kansas City-based Populous, formerly known as HOK Sport, the company that designed new homes for the Minnesota Twins, Wild and University of Minnesota football team.
