Imagine the weapons Sam Bradford would have if Josh Gordon wound up playing for the Vikings. Gordon, Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and Kyle Rudolph would have the potential to wreak havoc on opposing defenses.

When's the last time the Vikings had a scary-good passing attack? Brett Favre made it scary-good in 2009 and previous to that you have to go back to the days of Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss.

According to a report from ESPN, if Gordon is reinstated by the NFL in late April or early May, the Browns will likely release him outright or trade him. Gordon, per the report, has been working out with former track star Tim Montgomery, who battled substance abuse problems of his own and is now a motivational coach for people like Gordon.

Gordon went from being a first-team All-Pro wide receiver to in and out of suspensions due to substance-abuse violations each of the last three years. His track record goes back to college when he was kicked off teams at Utah and Baylor.

  • 2013: Suspended two games for substance abuse
  • 2014: Arrested for DWI and suspended the entire season (later reduced to 10 games)
  • 2014: Suspended for the final game of the season for a violation of team rules
  • 2015: Suspended for the entire season for substance abuse
  • 2016: After reinstatement, he entered enter in-patient rehab to gain control of his life

His agent told ESPN on March 1 that Gordon is in a much better place and he's ready to return to the league as a dominant receiver.

"Josh is living with me and is in the best place mentally that he has been in dating back years before entering the NFL," Michael Johnson said. "He has taken the proper steps to treat his issues and has followed a very strict protocol that the league and our team here has laid out for him.

"He's also in the best shape of his life and feels even better than he did when he had his breakout year in 2013. This will be a special year for Josh and we are all very proud of the way he has taken the necessary steps to turn his life around."

Gordon makes sense for the Vikings on the field not only because he's very good, but specifically because he's a great deep threat. How nice would it be for Bradford, the most accurate deep passer in the NFL last season, to have a guy like Gordon?

Minnesota tried to sign Alshon Jeffery before he inked a deal with the Eagles, according to multiple reports. They still haven't added a receiver, so maybe they'll throw their hat in the ring on Gordon, who doesn't turn 26 until next month.
