Shved to play in Rising Stars Challenge

Timberwolves rookie guard Alexey Shved was invited to play in the Rising Stars Challenge during the NBA All-Star Weekend, the league announced Wednesday.

The Rising Stars Challenge is a game between rookies and second year players.

Ricky Rubio and Derrick Williams played on the rookie team last year, but were not invited to play on this year's sophomore team.

NBA All-Star Weekend takes place in Houston February 16 and 17.

After missing the last five games with a sprained ankle, Shved will come off the bench against the Clippers, according to the Pioneer Press.

The NBA also announced Wednesday that Kevin Love received Kia Community Award for December. Love earned the honor due in large part to his charitable work with his annual Kevin Love Coat Drive.
