Signing day round-up: Gopher basketball gets 3, Minnesotans headed everywhere

Richard Pitino has two wins under his belt as Gopher head basketball coach, and today he can officially say he has his first three Minnesota recruits.

All three recruits already had verbally committed to the U before today, but with the opening of the fall signing period they could make it official, and did.

Here are short looks at the 2014 incoming class:

Guard Nate Mason.

Guard Carlos "Squirrel" Morris.

Forward Josh Martin.

Top-ranked Minnesota recruit Tyus Jones, a point guard from Apple Valley, will be announcing his college decision Friday at 3 p.m.

As far as Minnesotans going elsewhere, there are plenty. The Pioneer Press has a complete list of Twin Cities' high schoolers that are playing baseball, basketball (men's and women's), hockey (men's and women's), and everything else recognized by the NCAA, and where they'll be playing their college sport.

Football players are not included, as they can only begin signing Feb. 5 of 2014.
