Slovenia shocks USA in men's hockey Olympics opener

The US led 2-0 with under six minutes left in the third period.

The United States men's hockey team carried a 2-0 lead on Slovenia late into the third period of its opening game at the Olympics before collapsing and losing in overtime 3-2

Jordan Greenway's goal midway through the second period put the US on top 2-0. Greenway was drafted 20th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Late in the third, Slovenia cut the lead to one and then pulled its goalie and scored the tying goal with an extra attacker with just 1:37 left in the game.

The same guy who scored the tying goal, Jan Mursak, scored the game-winner in overtime.

According to ESPN, Mursak is Slovenia's only player with NHL experience.

The United States, like all other teams, is playing without current NHL players for the first time since the 1994 games in Lillehammer, Norway.

Losing an opening game doesn't do a whole lot to hurt the US. It hurts, but they can still making ground with their next qualifying round game Thursday against Slovakia.
