Dayton hopes to convince Wilfs Metrodome site can work for Vikes

Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf will sit down for a summit meeting Wednesday with Gov. Dayton, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, and other key players in the stadium discussion. To date, the Wilfs have turned up their nose at the idea of building a new stadium on the site of the Metrodome -- they prefer a roomier spot in Arden Hills. But Dayton and Friends will try to get them to change their thinking.

Gov. Dayton says Metrodome is only suitable site for Vikings stadium

Governor Mark Dayton informed the Minnesota Vikings on Monday that if they want a stadium plan approved this year, it will have to be built on the current Metrodome site. Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf are scheduled to meet with Dayton on Wednesday. Lester Bagley, Vice President of Public Affairs and Stadium Development, says the Wilfs are "extremely frustrated with the situation."

Vikings owner emerges from meeting 'optimistic' about Metrodome site

Leaving a three-hour meeting with key lawmakers at the Capitol on Wednesday, Zygi Wilf told reporters he's "optimistic" that a new stadium can be built in Minneapolis where the Metrodome now sits. But Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak said the city wouldn't kick in money toward the facility unless the deal includes some financial relief for Target Center.

Zygi Wilf: 'We're here to stay'

Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf were elated after the stadium bill passed through the House and Senate on Thursday. "We're here to stay" Zygi Wilf said at a press conference celebrating the stadium. Mark Wilf added that the stadium "will be first class and special, and something that all Minnesotans can be truly proud of.”

Wilf: Metrodome site would come with $67 million in hidden costs

In a letter to Minneapolis city officials, Vikings team owner Zygi Wilf outlined "three areas of concern" that he says would substantially raise the cost of revamping the Metrodome site for a new stadium. Wilf says TCF Bank Stadium, which would host the team during construction, would require upgrades and limit team revenue, and he says the Dome site would require additional parking.

Should Zygi have been a bigger jerk?

As the Vikings stadium issue seemingly slides in favor of the Metrodome site, fans in favor of the Arden Hills site are wondering if Zygi Wilf should have been more demanding. If Wilf would have threatened to move the team, would things be different?

Wilf calls Minneapolis stadium support 'signficant'

Speaking at the NFL owners' meeting in Florida, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf says Minneapolis officials support for the stadium at the Metrodome site is encouraging. But he's not nearly ready to declare victory.

Dayton, Wilfs hold private meeting to discuss stadium

Just a day after Gov. Dayton said the Metrodome site is the "only viable option" if the team wants a deal in 2012, key lawmakers including the mayor of Minneapolis and others are huddled at the Capitol.
