Baker looks good in spring debut

Scott Baker pitched two hitless innings as the Twins beats the Rays, 3-2 in spring training action Tuesday. Baker finished last season with a 3.14 ERA, but his season was cut short because of an elbow injury. He says "there’s peace in the fact I’m doing everything I can to stay healthy.”

Pavano to start spring training opener

The Twins kick off their 30-game spring training schedule Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays, and Carl Pavano will be the starting pitcher. Sunday's split-squad will feature Francisco Liriano against the Rays and Terry Doyle against the Red Sox.

Baker could start the season on DL

Scott Baker is scheduled to start the Twins' home opener against Albert Pujols and the Angels on April 9th, but a case of elbow tendinitis may prevent that from happening. Baker is scheduled to throw bullpen sessions Saturday and Monday, but there is a chance he doesn't join the Twins' rotation until the second week of the season.

Baker misses start with sore elbow

Scott Baker missed the majority of the final two months last season because of elbow problems, and he missed his scheduled start Thursday because of another sore elbow. Twins GM Terry Ryan says this is a "standard thing that happens to him every spring." Baker is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

Blackburn, Baker healthy and ready for 2012 season

Injuries were a major problem for the Twins in 2011. That's why the news that Scott Baker and Nick Blackburn are healthy is a step in the right direction for the 2012 Twins. Blackburn says if everyone can stay healthy, the upcoming season "should be a different story."

Scott Baker left his rehab start for Class A Fort Myers Thursday night after recording just one out in the first inning. "He couldn’t seem to get loose on the mound and instead of pushing the envelope, we decided we would go get him out of the game", Twins GM Terry Ryan said. Baker will be reevaluated Friday.
