The St. Paul Saints ended their record-breaking season with a 74th win Monday afternoon.

The Saints (74-26) defeated the New Jersey Jackals, 11-2, Monday to cap off the team's most successful regular season in franchise history, a news release says.

“I can't explain it, but from day one in this locker room, we knew that we could be something special,” Saints catcher Vinny DiFazio said, according to FOX 9.

The Saints' 104 home runs, 612 runs, 3.24 team ERA and .980 fielding percentage all set franchise single-season records, and left-hander Kramer Sneed's 15 wins tied an American Association record, the Pioneer Press notes.

And it wasn't just a record-breaking season on the field.

The Saints drew 404,528 fans into CHS Field during the 2015 season – roughly 105,000 more fans than the previous record, the release notes.

The team averaged 8,091 fans per game – that's nearly 3,000 more than the next highest team in the league, the Pioneer Press says.

But now the Saints are looking forward to the playoffs in hopes of winning their first-ever American Association Championship.

The Saints will take on the Sioux City Explorers – a team that had the most wins in America Association history this season (the Saints had the second most) – starting Wednesday in a best-of-five series, the release notes.

Sneed will take the mound for the Saints at Lewis & Clark Park, while Sioux City hasn't announced its starter.

Games 1 and 2 will be in Sioux City, followed by Game 3 Saturday in St. Paul. If necessary, the Saints will host Games 4 and 5 on Sunday and Monday as well, the Star Tribune notes.

"It's what every player dreams of doing. We've already popped a few bottles for getting to the playoffs, now I want to do it two more times,” DiFazio told FOX 9.
