The Minnesota Wild fell to the San Jose Sharks 2-1 on Thursday night in San Jose.
Joe Pavelski's go-ahead goal in the third period was the difference maker, as the Wild weren't able to answer back.
A pair of Sharks with Minnesota connections had a lot to do with the San Jose victory. Former Wild player Brent Burns netted his ninth goal of the season to put San Jose on top 1-0, and Minnesota native Alex Stalock was solid in net.
Stalock stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced. Wild goaltender Darcy Kuemper had a solid night of his own, he stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced, but it wasn't quite good enough.
Minnesota's lone goal came with the Sharks leading 1-0 heading into the third period, but Christian Folin fired a shot from the point which got by Stalock to tie the score at one.
But the Sharks answered right back as Pavelski put San Jose back on top when he beat Kuemper on a one-timer.
The Wild had a few chances to answer back, but they were not able to even the score.
