Most of the NFL world raved about Stefon Diggs in 2016, but he wasn't that impressive – and he agrees.

  • Year 1 Diggs: 52 catches, 720 yards, 4 touchdowns
  • Year 2 Diggs: 84 catches, 903 yards, 3 touchdowns

Diggs racked up 903 yards on 84 catches despite a hip injury limiting him to 13 games. It looks pretty good on paper but when you break it all down, it's really not that impressive.

In fact, on Wednesday, Diggs referred to his season as "unimpressive."

Credit Diggs for taking a page out of Tom Brady's playbook.

After leading the Patriots to a stunning comeback in the Super Bowl, Brady told The MMQB that he doesn't consider playing well for less than half of that game one of his best Super Bowl performances. Remember, Brady and the Pats were terrible until midway through the third quarter.

The same can be said for Diggs over the course of his full season.

  • Diggs games 1-8: 61 catches, 710 yards, 2 touchdowns
  • Diggs games 9-13: 23 catches, 193 yards, 1 touchdown

Fact: 49.7% of his total yardage came in three games last season.

  • Week 1: 103 yards against the Titans
  • Week 2: 182 yards against the Packers
  • Week 9: 164 yards against the Redskins

He averaged 5.1 catches and 45.4 yards in the other 10 games. Blame his injury or blame the bad offensive line and lack of a running game, but that's just not consistent enough.

Again, credit Diggs. He knows he has to be better.

"This is just a small step in the right direction as far as where I want to be," Diggs said after the season ended in January. "I’m not close at all, so you’re going to see more of me.”
