Tuesday was a day of awards and honors for the Minnesota Lynx.

Both Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore received honors as the WNBA postseason got underway.

The Associated Press named Fowles the WNBA's Defensive Player of the Year. She averaged 8.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.8 blocks per game for the Lynx.

But her true value shows up in the advanced stats as Fowles was near the top of the league in almost every defensive category, including her defensive rating of 94.7.

Of course it wouldn't be a post about Lynx players winning awards if we didn't mention Moore. She was named first-team All-WNBA.

  • Tina Charles, New York
  • Neka Ogwunmike, Los Angeles
  • Elena Delle Donne, Chicago

Moore also added another Western Conference Player of the Month award to her long list of accomplishments during the 2016 regular season.

The Lynx have a bye in the first two rounds of the playoffs and are awaiting whoever advances to the Western Conference Finals.
