It has been a day of awards and honors for the Minnesota Lynx.

Both Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore received honors as the WNBA postseason gets underway Tuesday.

The Associated Press named Fowles the WNBA's Defensive Player of the Year. She averaged 8.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.8 blocks per game for the Lynx.

But her true value shows up in the advance stats as Fowles was near the top in almost every defensive category, including her defensive rating which was 94.7.

Of course it wouldn't be a post about Lynx players winning awards if we didn't mention Moore. She was named first-team All-WNBA.

All WNBA First Team

  • Maya Moore, Minnesota Lynx
  • Tina Charles, New York
  • Neka Ogwunmike, Los Angeles
  • Elena Delle Donne, Chicago
  • Breanna Stewart, Seattle

Moore also added another Western Conference Player of the Month award to her long list of accomplishments during the 2016 regular season.

The Lynx have a bye in the first round of the WNBA Playoffs. They will open the WNBA Finals after the semifinals are completed.
