Sylvia Fowles wins WNBA MVP

Fowles is the second player in team history to win the award.

The Lynx have another MVP on their roster. Sylvia Fowles was named WNBA MVP before the team's Game 2 tilt against the Washington Mystics Thursday.

Fowles averaged 18 points and 10 rebound per game in the regular season. Her 65 percent field goal accuracy led the league and was the fourth-best percentage in WNBA history.

Minnesota acquired Fowles in 2015 from the Chicago Sky as part of three-team deal.

Fowles is a four-time All-Star and a three-time winner of the Defensive Player of the Year award.

She's the second player in team history to earn the award, as Maya Moore won it 2014.

If the Lynx are able to defeat the Mystics in their best-of-five series, they'll advance to the WNBA Finals for the sixth time in the last seven years. They've hoisted the league championship three times: 2011, 2013 and 2015.
