Mankato: Mavericks' sprinter now a 2-time national champ

A senior sprinter from Minnesota State-Mankato is now a two-time national champion. At the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, the transfer from the University of Louisville, Emmanuel Matadi, took first place in the 100- and- 200-meter dashes. Matadi was recently named the Central Region track athlete of the year.

Shakopee: Prep coach up for National Softball Coach of the Year

Shakopee High School softball coach Neil Johnson was named one of eight finalists for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association national coach of the year in softball. The winner will be announced on June 20th. Coaches are nominated based on longevity, service to high school athletics, honors, championship years, and winning percentage.

Blooming Prairie: Girls basketball coach retires after 22 years

John Worke is stepping down after 22 years at the helm of the Blooming Prairie High School girls basketball team. Worke guided the "Awesome Blossoms" to the state tournament early in his career, but the most rewarding part of the job was the camaraderie he built with fellow coaches.
