Prep star will compete at state track meet – then head to boot camp

If Red Lake County runner Cody Gagner does well at the state track meet this weekend, he won't have much time to celebrate. Gagner is competing in the 800m and 1,600m Friday and Saturday. On Monday he flies out to California for U.S. Marine Corps reserves training. Gagner enlisted early, joining last winter.

Longtime Brainerd gymnastics coach retiring

Dave Maras has been coaching gymnastics for a long time – 33 years just with the Brainerd Warriors. Now 73 (and a former classmate of Bob Dylan), Maras is retiring. He led the squad to 15 Central Lakes Conference titles, and 15 section championships. A retirement party will be held for Maras on June 11.
