Orono: Ex-Wild player named prep hockey coach

Mark Parrish, formerly of the Minnesota Wild, has been named the new head coach of the Orono High School boys' hockey team. Parrish helped out with the team last year while providing color commentary during St. Cloud State men's hockey games. The former Husky will continue his TV job with SCSU while he coaches at Orono.

Rochester: The 'State of the North' games

It's pretty much the Olympics of Minnesota, and it was held in Rochester over the weekend. The games featured competitors in lacrosse, tennis, weight-lifting and more. More events in basketball, track and field and soccer will take place next weekend.

Duluth: 7 Bulldogs named preseason All-Americans

Seven players on the University of Minnesota-Duluth football team have been named preseason All-Americans by USA College Football. Five of the seven players were named to the first team while two found their way onto the second team. UMD football opens camp on Aug. 15.
