Minnesota Twins fans hoping to see Brian Dozier in the Twins' lineup to start 2017 have something to be happy about.

Monday evening the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Tampa Bays Rays announced a trade sending pitching prospect Jose DeLeon to the Tampa Bay Rays for second baseman Logan Forsythe.

The move will bring an end to the trade rumors that had the Twins and Dodgers discussing a DeLeon for Dozier deal. The teams reportedly reached an impasse in those discussions last week.

Forsythe has been solid, but he's never produced anywhere near the numbers Dozier did last season. Hardball Talk notes that Forsythe hit .264 last season with 20 home runs and 52 RBIs.

Dozier is coming off a career year, hitting .268 with 42 home runs and 99 RBIs.

The move doesn't mean the Twins couldn't send Dozier elsewhere, but it won't be to the Dodgers – the most consistent trade partner they've had for Dozier during the offseason.

The only other teams that have reportedly even shown interest in a trade are the Giants and Cardinals.
