Thin ice conditions have forced organizers of the Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby to cancel the popular event. The ice-fishing contest was supposed to be held tomorrow and normally draws around 10,000 people. The pre-party and tomorrow’s polar plunge will go on as scheduled.

Brainerd ice fishing contest postponed

Ice conditions on Gull Lake has forced organizers of the Brainerd Jaycee's Ice Fishing Extravaganza to postpone the event. The contest was scheduled for Saturday, January 21. It will now take place three weeks later, on February 11. KARE 11 reports all tickets for the fishing contest will be honored next month or can be exchanged for next year's event.
