Timberwolves schedule preseason game in Cedar Rapids

The Timberwolves are heading back to Iowa.

Fox Sports North says the Wolves have scheduled a preseason game at U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.

The Oct. 17 game against the Milwaukee Bucks will be the first time the team has played in the city since 2002. In that preseason game, the Wolves lost to the Boston Celtics 95-83, WCCO says.

"This off-site game is a great opportunity to connect with our phenomenal fans and partners in Iowa and bring the excitement of NBA basketball right to their front door," Timberwolves President Chris Wright said in a press release.

Tickets go on sale Friday through the U.S. Cellular Center Box Office and Ticketmaster.

The NBA announced last week that the Wolves would be taking on the Houston Rockets in a regular season game Nov. 12 as part of the league's Global Games schedule.

The Wolves were set to play the San Antonio Spurs in Mexico City last December, but a generator malfunctioned outside the arena sending smoke into the venue right before the game was scheduled to begin. That game was made up at Target Center in April.
