Tiny Joe's KFAN/BMTN prep football rankings
Hey everyone, it's time for some fresh prep football rankings. Last week I had Cretin-Derham Hall as my number-1 team the Raiders with Eden Prairie, Wayzata, Lakeville South, and Minnetonka. I need to do some shuffling this week.
1. Eden Prairie
The Eagles have outscored their opponents 94-7. They are big, physical, athletic, and fast.
2. Cretin-Derham Hall
Allowed a combined 16-points to Mounds View and Stillwater. Shutting down two of their toughest opponents on the road is impressive.
3. Wayzata
The defending class 5A champions are very good. They are off to a 3-0 start and play a team from Illinois this Friday.
4. Minnetonka
They've shutout three straight 5A teams to start the year. Don't count out Minnetonka as the best team in the Lake Conference.
5. Lakeville South
Quarterback Mitchell Leidner receives most of the attention, but this team is loaded from top to bottom.
Despite my top five remaining relatively the same, there are a handful of teams that could just as easily be in the top five.
South St. Paul
The Packers have posted three consecutive shutouts to start the season. They return almost everyone from last season's very strong team.
Rosemount
Where is the love for the defending class 5A runner-up? The Irish are 3-0 and winning in convincing fashion.
Blaine
Clearly the best team in the Northwest Suburban Conference. The Bengals, led by Duke Anyanwu, have already pulled off three good wins.
Mankato West
It's easy to forget about the teams in the southern part of the state, but the Scarlets are ranked No. 1 in class 4A for a reason.
