Tiny Joe's KFAN/BMTN prep football top 5 rankings

Two weeks of high school football are in the books, and FM 100.3 KFAN's Joe Nelson is back with his top five rankings. No team in his week one rankings lost, but that doesn't mean they'll stay the same.

It's Joe Nelson from FM 100.3 KFAN's Friday Night Scoreboard and I'm back with my week two power rankings. Last week my top five included Wayzata, Eden Prairie, Cretin-Derham Hall, Lakeville South, and Mankato West.

All five are now 2-0, but one team that was on the outside looking in last week is now in my top five.

1. Cretin-Derham Hall
The Raiders are winning with a dominant defense. How can I avoid putting them at the top of my power rankings after they won 21-9 at Mounds View?

2. Eden Prairie
The Eagles shut down Bloomington Kennedy 35-0 and are playing a brand of punishing football. I can't find any potential losses on their schedule until week six, when they play a red hot Minnetonka team.

3. Wayzata
They were my number one team last week but the loss of Mitch Underhill (torn ACL) diminishes their backfield. They're still an obvious contender, but the injury hurts.

4. Lakeville South
I watched quite a bit of the Cougars' 28-14 win over Eastview on Friday night. Mitchell Leidner is a top five Mr. Football contender and he has some very tall, athletic receivers to throw to.

5. Minnetonka
They have posted back-to-back shutouts to start the season. There is no way I'm leaving them out of my top five. No disrespect to Mankato West, but the 5A schools powered their way into the power rankings this week.

Check back later for more rankings.
