Today's Sports Clip: Tyus Jones waves goodbye to Apple Valley

The historic high school basketball career of Tyus Jones isn't over yet, but he played his final game on his home court at Apple Valley High School on Wednesday night.

Jones finished with 10 points and five assists in just 13 minutes of action in Apple Valley's 87-40 win over Park of Cottage Grove in the opening round of the Class 4A, Section 3 tournament. Jones and the top-ranked Eagles (26-1) will be heavily favored against Rosemount in the semifinals. A win over the Irish would pit Apple Valley against East Ridge or Cretin-Derham Hall in the section final.

Jones is Apple Valley's all-time leader in scoring, assists and he holds the school record for 3-pointers made in a single game.

In 27 games this season, the Duke-bound point guard is averaging 25.7 points, 8.7 assists and 2.8 steals per game, according to MN Basketball Hub.

Jones was appropriately given a salute from the public address announcer and a standing ovation from the crowd as he walked off the court for the last time.
