It didn't take long for Wolves rookie Shabazz Muhammad to excel after a demotion to the D-league last week, as he put up 24 points Tuesday and showed off the athleticism Minnesota hopes to see at the NBA level one day.
The game was a part of the developmental league's showcase, and Muhammad's 24 led all scorers and helped Minnesota's D-league affiliate, the Iowa Energy, defeat the Bakersfield Jam 133-121.
Muhammad went 9-of-13 from the field, and also picked up two assists, his first two since the start of the NBA season.
Minnesota sent Muhammad to the D-league to make room for big man Ronny Turiaf, who returned to the Wolves Monday, and to get the rookie more playing time.
The impending return of Chase Budinger also made the move that much easier for Minnesota, who take on the Suns tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m.
