Tommies win, 1 game away from Div. III title contest

The St. Thomas football team will return to the Div. III semifinals after a win over Hobart College of New York on Saturday at O'Shaughnessy Stadium in St. Paul, the Associated Press reports.

St. Thomas drubbed Hobart 47-7. Tommies freshman Brenton Braddock rushed for 94 yards and four touchdowns.

The 13-0 Tommies will play Wisconsin-Oshkosh next Saturday, and the victor will play in the national championship game in Salem, Va. Here's the bracket that got St. Thomas here.

St. Thomas lost last year at Wisconsin-Whitewater in the national semifinals.

Tommies advance to Division III quarterfinals

St. Thomas running back Colin Tobin carried the Tommies past Monmouth (Ill.), rushing for 250 yards and two touchdowns in the 38-10 victory. St. Thomas moves on to face St. John Fisher (10-2) next Saturday.

Tommies advance to College World Series

The St. Thomas Tommies cruised through the regional playoffs and landed a spot in the Division III College World Series. Eight teams will battle for the championship beginning Friday in Whitewater, Wisconsin. The Tommies previously won national titles in 2009 and 2001.
