Author:

The hockey team from RPI (Rensselear Polytechnic Institute of Troy, New York) surprised the nationally-ranked St. Cloud State men’s hockey team Thursday night. The St Cloud Times reports that RPI defeated the no. 16-ranked Huskies 4-3 at the National Hockey and Event Center.

SCSU was up by a score of 2-0 after one period, but RPI rallied to lead 3-2 at the end of the second. St. Cloud State's Cory Thorson tied the game late in the third period, but RPI’s Mark McGowan broke the tie with just over two minutes left in the regulation play.

SCSU and RPI will be back on the ice in St. Cloud on Friday night at 7:07 p.m. to conclude second game in the non-conference series.
