Home is not where the heart is: Vaughn is the latest to reject Gophers

Rashad Vaughn will not be wearing maroon and gold next fall when he begins his much-anticipated college basketball career.

The 6-foot-6 former Robbinsdale Cooper shooting guard , who is playing his senior season at Findlay College Prep near Las Vegas, Nevada, sent a shockwave through the Gopher fan base on Friday.

Vaughn didn't rank his final five schools in any particular order, but the absence of the Gophers on the list means Minnesota won't land any of state's "Big Three" recruits.

Tyus Jones of Apple Valley recently announced his decision to play at Duke University next fall, while DeLaSalle's Reid Travis tabbed Stanford University as his school of choice.

According to the Star Tribune, Travis was the only one who truly considered the Gophers as a potential landing spot.

Rivals.com ranks Vaughn as the No. 7 recruit in the country, and describes him like this:

An electric scoring guard who plays with supreme confidence. Vaughn is big, strong, athletic and very adept at driving to his left. His range extends to well beyond the three point line. Rebounds very well but has to work on his shot selection and efficiency.

Vaughn is the No. 17 recruit in the country, according to ESPN.
