Twins announce acts for Midwest Music Showcase

The Minnesota Twins and their radio partner 96.3 K-TWIN are highlight eight local bands throughout the summer as part of their Midwest Music Showcase, the Twins announced Thursday.

The series of music events kicks off Wednesday, May 15 and continue at every Wednesday home game through August. The artists, including GB Leighton, Trampled by Turtles and P.O.S., will perform original songs live from the left field balcony at Target Field during pregame, inning breaks and pitching changes.

"The Twins Midwest Music Showcase is a great way for us to feature some talented local musicians while we continue to explore ways to evolve our in-game experience," Joe Pohlad, director of Twins Productions and Creative Services, said in press release.

In addition to the local acts, the Twins and K-TWIN are staging a band contest called "The Sound Factor" for a chance for the winner to play at the last Midwest Music Showcase date in August.

Local musicians are asked to send samples of their music to the station. The panel of judges reviewing the the samples includes former Prince drummer Bobby Z, who hosts K-Twin's local show "The Sound" -- which features Minnesota artists and their works.

"We're looking forward to hearing some of the cool and unique music local bands submit for 'The Sound Factor' contest," said Bobby Z. in a press release. "We'll play some of the submissions on my show, 'The Sound,' and one lucky winner will get to play in front of thousands of fans at Target Field."

June 19: Hitchville, 7:10 p.m. , Twins vs. White Sox

July 3, P.O.S. , 7:10 p.m. , Twins vs. Yankees

July 31, Rocket Club, 7:10 p.m. , Twins vs. Royals

Aug. 14: Trampled By Turtles, 12:10 p.m., Twins vs. Indians.

Aug. 28: "The Sound Factor" contest winner, 7:10 p.m., Twins vs. Royals
