Twins' bats turn cold in 6-0 blanking by Orioles

The Twins had scored five runs or more in each of their six previous games. But they went from scoring rich to can't-buy-a-run on Sunday, as five Baltimore Orioles pitchers combined for a 6-0 shutout at Target Field.

Scott Diamond was the losing pitcher. He allowed all six runs in less than six innings, evening his record at 3-3.

Orioles pitcher Wei-Yin Chen was strong through five innings but had to leave the game with a strained shoulder muscle. The Twins fared no better against a succession of relievers.

Minnesota managed eight hits but left just as many runners on base. Joe Mauer delivered a double, a single, and a walk, raising his batting average to .341.
