Not only does the Twins' victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday exorcise the ghosts of Friday night's loss, but it also puts the playoffs closer to Minnesota's grasp.
You can understand the Twins' upbeat and somewhat silly mood, as seen in the Tweet below:
Twins won 6-2. The game was held at the Tigers' Comerica Park in Detroit.
It was also a good night for Brian Dozier, who didn't take long at all to reach a milestone – right in the first inning, he hit his 100th run this season,
" target="_blank">according to the team's Twitter feed.
Meanwhile, pitcher Tyler Duffey got to distinguish himself during the game, with MLB.com reporting that the rookie "threw six strong innings."
There was a little bit of drama on the way to that victory, though – the Twins stagnated at two points for the majority of the game, spending two innings in a 2-2 tie with the Tigers.
It wasn't until the seventh inning that Minnesota finally broke away and pulled into a lead that Detroit couldn't catch up into.
And it was a crucial game, too. MLB.com says the win puts the Twins 1 1/2 games behind the Houston Astros for the coveted Wild Card playoff spot.
The team plays the last of three games against the Tigers on Sunday.
