Blue Jays stay hot, top Twins, 6-5

One bad inning cost Mike Pelfrey and the Twins Friday night as they hosted the Blue Jays at Target Field.

Pelfrey allowed five runs in the third inning to fuel Toronto's 6-5 win.

Pelfrey, who had allowed one earned run in each of his previous two starts, settled down and finished six innings. He allowed six runs (five earned), struck out seven and walked two.

The Twins threatened to win the game in the bottom of the ninth, but they fell one run short. They trailed by two to start the inning before rookie catcher Josmil Pinto's solo home run cut the lead to one, but that's as close as they could get.

Minnesota's initial burst of offense came from Independent League MVP Chris Colabello. Colabello slugged his seventh home run of the season and drove in three runs.
