Twins call up Butera, designate Burroughs for assignment

Drew Butera was called up from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday. He'll backup Ryan Doumit at catcher. Joe Mauer is back in the Twins' lineup as the DH, but he's still sore after taking a foul tip to his left knee on Sunday. To make room on the roster for Butera, the Twins designated Sean Burroughs for assignment.

The backup/fill-in catcher was cut Saturday after spending the past two seasons on the Minnesota roster. Butera struggled at the plate hitting just .167 last year. The Twins open the regular season at Baltimore on Friday.
