Twins drop ninth straight in 3-1 loss to Chicago

Publish date:

Chicago White Sox 3

Minnesota Twins 1

The Minnesota Twins were swept by the Chicago White Sox on Thursday afternoon, dropping their ninth straight game and keeping them winless in 2016.

1. Four hits

Minnesota's offense mustered just four hits and scratched out just one run on Thursday. In all nine games this season, Minnesota has scored three or fewer runs.

2. Buxton day-to-day

Outfielder Byron Buxton left the game in the fourth inning because of a wrist injury. The X-rays came back negative but Buxton has dealt with a wrist injury in 2014 and a thumb injury last year.

3. Mauer the lone bright spot

Despite the Twins dropping their ninth straight game, Joe Mauer continues to rake at the plate. His triple in the fourth inning led to the team's lone run.

Mauer is hitting over .400 and ranks in the top ten leaders in hits in the American League.
