2012 Twins roster in for some changes

The 2012 Minnesota Twins roster probably won't resemble the 2011 roster very much. Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel will be free-agents while Matt Capps and Joe Nathan could also end up elsewhere. Those are some of the names on a roster full of question marks.

Nathan 'excited' to become free agent

Joe Nathan isn't sounding like he's too torn up over the Twins' passing on his 2012 option. The reliever tells the Pioneer Press that he's looking forward to what the free market will bring. If he doesn't re-sign with Minnesota, Nathan says Glen Perkins is a prime candidate to take his spot.

Twins decline 2012 option on closer Joe Nathan

The Twins have declined Joe Nathan’s $12.5 million dollar option for 2012, and will buy out his contract for $2 million. Twins General Manger Bill Smith says he still has an interest in re-signing Nathan, who now becomes a free agent.

New faces, leaders in Twins' clubhouse

There are plenty of new faces in the Twins' clubhouse this season. The likes of Joe Nathan, Michael Cuddyer, Jason Kubel and Jim Thome are gone, meaning a lot of players are adjusting to new faces and new leaders.

Twins don't expect to sign Cuddyer and Kubel

Twins general manager Terry Ryan says it would be "unrealistic" to think that both Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel will be back with the Twins next season. Ryan expects talks between the Twins and Cuddyer and his agent to resume Thursday, or sometime in the near future.

Notes on Capps, Buehrle, Cuddyer and more

La Velle Neal III of the Star Tribune reports the Twins are finalizing a deal with closer Matt Capps. Capps lost his closer role to Joe Nathan midway through last season. Neal also reports the Twins can't afford to sign Mark Buehrle, but will be making a strong push to re-sign Michael Cuddyer.

Tolbert, Repko, Slama optioned to AAA

The Minnesota Twins outrighted infielder Matt Tolbert, outfielder Jason Repko, catcher Rene Rivera, and reliever Anthony Slama to Triple-A Rochester. Tolbert, Repko, and Rivera become free agents but the Twins decided to retain the rights to Slama. The moves create room on the 40-man roster.

Projecting the Twins' batting order

Michael Cuddyer, Jason Kubel and Jim Thome are gone, so what will the 2012 Minnesota Twins' lineup look like. FOX Sports North takes a shot at predicting the batting order, and a healthy Denard Span walks to the batter's box first.
