First the Twins lost Miguel Sano to the disabled list and now Byron Buxton is dinged up. But despite speculation that Buxton could miss extensive time with a hand injury, Twins Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey, on Thursday, said it's nothing more than a bone bruise and he'll be available off the bench today.
Buxton left Wednesday's game in pain and later told the Pioneer Press that he felt a throbbing pain during his last at-bat in the sixth inning.
Losing Buxton for an extended period would be a big blow for the Twins as they enter the final month of the season. Buxton is hitting over .330 since July 1.
After avoiding significant injuries the first four months of the season, the Twins are now without Sano, Robbie Grossman and Jason Castro, so today's news on Buxton is a sigh of relief.
Minnesota wraps up their season series with the Chicago White Sox this afternoon at Target Field.
