Hicks, Deduno shine in Twins 4-1 win

Very few could've seen even a slight resurgence coming from the Twins after losing 10 in a row.

Even fewer would've penciled in Aaron Hicks to be the catalyst with spectacular plays like the ones he's made the last few nights.

Hicks once again made an improbable catch, this time on a sinking liner by Rickie Weeks in the top of the fourth, to rob the Brewers second baseman of an RBI single. To ice his proverbial cake, Hicks went deep in the bottom of the fourth -- this coming on the heels of the young center fielder pulling back a would be homer by Carlos Gomez last night, and going long himself in the Twins 14-inning victory.

Behind Hicks and the solid outing from Samuel Deduno, the Twins beat the Brewers 4-1 Wednesday, securing only their second series win since mid-April.

Trevor Plouffe was slated to start at third after being activated from the seven-day disabled list earlier in the day, but was a late scratch because of calf tightness after running outfield sprints. His replacement, Eduardo Escobar, hit leadoff and recorded a hit, as did every starter except for Pedro Florimon.

Samuel Deduno was untouchable in his second start since being called up from Rochester, bouncing back from a poor outing against Detroit. Deduno gave up just one run over seven innings, scattering four hits, and was never in severe trouble aside from the fourth, which Hicks dealt with.

The Twins and Brewers close out their four game set Thursday at 7:10 from Target Field, Kyle Lohse (1-5) makes his first regular-season start at Target Field, and the Twins will send P.J. Walters (1-0) to the mound for his second start of the season.

Here's a taste of Hicks' heroics:
