Former Twin and current manager of the Fort Myers Miracle, Doug Mientkiewicz was ejected before his team even took the field against the Tampa Yankees on Sunday.

Home plate umpire Matt Carlyon tossed Mientkiewicz in the manager's meeting at home plate. According to team broadcaster Spencer Siegel, he was ejected when a topic of past ejections came up.

"He was ejected by the umpire when the topic of the night before came up," team broadcaster Spencer Siegel told GoMN.com. "The umpire had ejected six people (five Miracle including Doug, twice) over the last three nights."

Siegel added that Mientkiewicz was displeased that the previous ejections were brought up – hence why he was tossed.

Fort Myers ended up having two more team members ejected during their game against Tampa. Acting manager Steve Singleton was tossed on a stolen base attempt and catcher Kevin Garcia was also ejected after grounding out, as the Yankees defeated the Miracle 6-2.

Mientkiewicz played seven seasons with the Twins from 1998-2004. He won the Gold Glove Award in 2001, while finishing 14th in MVP voting during that season. He's been managing in the Twins organization since 2013 where he's been the skipper for Fort Myers and the Chattanooga Lookouts.

The Fort Myers Miracle are 51-46 in 2017.
