Twins prospect is hitting nearly .500 this month at Triple-A

Zack Granite could be on his way to the big league club soon.

Zack Granite can't stop mashing baseballs this month at Triple-A Rochester.

The 24-year-old is hitting .487 in June (37-76) with 13 extra-base hits. It also included a 17-game hitting streak.

So who is this guy?

He was a 14th round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, and was named the Twins' Minor League Player of the Year in 2016. But despite that, he entered this season as the team's 21st best prospect, according to

Scouts note that Granite is the best base-stealer in the system – he stole 56 bags last season which was the most in the minor leagues. This season he's got 16 stolen bases while being a disciplined hitter at the plate, drawing 16 walks to just 18 strikeouts.

He had another three-hit game on Monday; it was the five time this month he collected three or more hits in a game.

After missing the month of April with an injury, the left-handed hitter is slashing .349/.409/.479 on the season overall.

Will he be in the majors?

Granite is already on the 40-man roster, and he could be on his way to the big league club soon.

He might make a push for Eddie Rosario's starting position in left field.

Rosario is hitting .283 this month, but his on base percentage is one of the lowest in baseball and he's made some costly mistakes on the basepaths lately.
