Twins will send Diamond, Deduno to hill for doubleheader with Nats

The Minnesota Twins will face the Washington Nationals in a day-night doubleheader Sunday in D.C. because of rain Friday night.

Lefty Scott Diamond, who is unbeaten on the road this season, will take the mound for the Twins in the first contest, reports. He's coming off a 10-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Target Field a week ago.

The Nationals will counter with Jordan Zimmermann on the mound, who hasn't lost at home this season, according to Sports Network.

The Associated Press says righty Samuel Deduno will make his first start against Washington in the nightcap. He tossed six scoreless innings against Kansas City on Tuesday.

The Nats will give the ball to Nathan Karns, who is making his third major league start.

The Star Tribune notes Joe Mauer and Josh Willingham will sit out the first game. The Twins also recalled outfielder Chris Colabello from Triple-A Rochester under a baseball rule allowing a one-day roster expansion for doubleheaders.

The Twins held on to a 4-3 victory Saturday afternoon after Ryan Doumit drove in the winning run in the top of the 11th inning.
