U.S. Olympic team is without LeBron, Curry, Harden and many more

Publish date:

LeBron James, Steph Curry, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, Kawhi Leonard, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis and John Wall are arguably ten of the top 20 players in the NBA – many of them in the upper half of that debatable list – but none of them are on 2016 U.S. men's Olympic basketball team.

This year's team is headlined by Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony, along with:

  • Harrison Barnes
  • Jimmy Butler
  • DeMarcus Cousins
  • DeMar DeRozan
  • Paul George
  • Draymond Green
  • Kyrie Irving
  • DeAndre Jordan
  • Kyle Lowry
  • Klay Thompson

Whether the names above are skipping the Olympics for rest, postseason surgeries or the threat of Zika virus, one thing is certain: The 2016 U.S. Olympic team isn't nearly as daunting as it has been the past two Olympics.

The U.S. took home the Gold medal in 2012 and 2008. They finished third in the 2004 games.
