Minnesota Duluth senior center Jack Connolly is among three finalists for the 2012 Hobey Baker award, which goes to the top player in Division I men’s hockey. Connolly, a Duluth native, scored 20 goals in 41 games for the Bulldogs this season.

Three Gophers named Hobey Baker candidates

Three Gophers are among 77 candidates for the Hobey Baker Award, which goes to the nations top college hockey player. Goalie Kent Patterson, forward Nick Bjugstad, and forward Kyle Rau made the list. The candidates will eventually be trimmed to three, with the winner being named April 6.

WCHA Playoffs: UMD takes game one over Minnesota State-Mankato, 4-2

The second-seeded UMD Bulldogs defeated Minnesota State, 4-2 Friday night at Amsoil Arena. J.T. Brown scored the first goal of the game and Brady Lamb added the game-winner for the Bulldogs. Game two of the series is Saturday night.

UMD's 17-game winning streak comes to an end

Nebraska-Omaha was able to defeat the No. 1-ranked Bulldogs 3-1 Saturday night. That snapped the University of Minnesota Duluth's 17-game unbeaten streak; the longest winning streak in school history. The UMD men's hockey team is back home on Friday for the first time since November 19.
