UND sends Gophers to third straight loss

The Golden Gophers chance at a season sweep of North Dakota went by the wayside Friday night as they lost, 2-1 at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks. Kyle Rau got the scoring started for the Gophers, but Minnesota failed to hang on to their lead en route to its third straight loss.

The Golden Gophers chance at a season sweep of North Dakota went by the wayside Friday night as they lost, 2-1 at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks.

The Gophers got the scoring started midway through the second period on a goal by Kyle Rau. The freshman nicely handled a rebound and fired a shot passed UND goaltender Aaron Dell.

North Dakota, playing it's first game at home without the Fighting Sioux nickname, responded with a goal in the second period, and the winner in the third period for the win.

The Gophers have lost three in a row.
