Perhaps all the United States men's curling team needed was a little motivation from an actress who hasn't done anything huge since the 1990s.

Minnesota native John Shuster leads USA curling to historic win

Team USA, led by Minnesota native and team skip John Shuster, won in historic fashion over Canada on Monday and then had to survive a tweet from Kirstie Alley, before getting up Tuesday and take on another curling power, Switzerland.

Alley, famous for her role on Cheers in the late '80s and early '90s, along with her roles in the Look Who's Talking series and Drop Dead Gorgeous, should know better than to tweet an insult at curlers, especially since Drop Dead Gorgeous was filmed in Minnesota

USA curler Matt Hamilton tweeted back at her: "You're entitled to your wrong opinion."

Anyway, their 8-4 win over Switzerland is their second consecutive win against tournament favorites, and they'll go for a third straight win in their round robin finale against Great Britain on Wednesday.

The top four teams following Wednesday's action advance to play in the semifinals on Thursday. After beating the Swiss, the United States is in fifth place, so Wednesday is a must-win against Great Britain.

Meanwhile, Alley is trying to be more sensitive today.

For the record, the Looks Who's Talking series is awesome.
