Former North Star Mike Modano retires

Former North Star Mike Modano is calling it a career. Modano played at Met Center in Bloomington for four full seasons before the Stars left for Dallas. In his 21-year career, he scored 561 goals, played in eight All-Star Games and won a Stanley Cup. He is arguably the best U.S.-born player to ever skate in the NHL.

Modano says emotional goodbye to the NHL

Mike Modano said an emotional goodbye to the NHL on Friday. Dallas GM Joe Nieuwendyk presented Modano with a one-day contract so he could retire as a member of the Stars. He said he was most proud of playing for one franchise for 21-years.

Mike Modano will be enshrined Oct. 15
