Videos: Maya Moore, Christian Laettner make SI's 100 Greatest Moments in Sports

No matter the sport, no matter the game – athletic competitions often come down to moments.

Kirby Puckett's home run in Game 6 of the 1991 World Series, Gene Larkin's series-clinching single in Game 7, Michael Jordan's jumper over Byron Russell and Joe Carter's walk-off homer to end the '93 Fall Classic – are all examples of great moments in sports history.

Sports Illustrated put together a list of the 100 Greatest Moments in Sports History. While neither Puckett's nor Larkin's heroics made the list, we'd suggest you spend some time watching it and reminiscing about where you were and what you were doing at the time.

There aren't a lot of Minnesota connections to it, but one involved a moment that Minnesota Lynx star Maya Moore won't soon forget. She was playing for Connecticut when they accomplished something no one else has ever done in college basketball.

No. 73 on the list was Connecticut's 90-game winning streak between 2008 and 2010.

At No. 11 on the list is former Timberwolves forward and Duke star Christian Laettner when he hit "the shot" as time expired in the 1992 regional finals game to send Duke back to the Final Four.
