Vikings give 'up-close' view of new uniforms

Purple tongues planted firmly in purple cheeks, the Vikings website today offered an "up-close" view of the new uniforms the NFL franchise will sport in 2013.

How is "up-close" defined? By showing the "Vikings" script below the collar, but above the numbers on front of the jersey.

To the trained eye, it's still a significant development:

We'll presumably see a lot more when the new Nike uniforms are officially unveiled a the team's draft party at the Mall of America Field on April 25.

In the meantime, there are a few images on the web of what the new uniforms supposedly look like, including this one:

Is it the real deal? Not likely, according to the Purple Jesus Diaries blog, which took issue with the black piping on the pants: "For what reason are we adding black to the uniform now? Is this 1998 and no one told me?"
