University of Minnesota regents approved a deal that would allow the Minnesota Vikings to play at TCF Bank Stadium while the team's new home is being built. The board would likely vote in late summer on a lease agreement.

A deal between the Vikings and the University of Minnesota would add about 3,000 seats to the Gophers' football stadium. The Vikings say that would at least allow them to fit their season ticket holders in the building if they wind up playing there while a new stadium is under construction.

The Vikings have agreed to a letter of intent to play at TCF Bank Stadium when construction of the new stadium removes the Metrodome as a possible playing venue. The Vikings will likely begin playing on the college campus in 2013. Each game will cost the team $300 thousand dollars, or $3 million/season.

Architecture bids in on Vikings stadium

Five national architectural and engineering firms have submitted renderings and plans for a new $975 million Vikings stadium. The finalists include Kansas City-based Populous, formerly known as HOK Sport, the company that designed new homes for the Minnesota Twins, Wild and University of Minnesota football team.
