Vikings' Griffen, Brinkley fined for illegal hits

The NFL dropped a couple of fines on the Vikings Friday. Defensive end Everson Griffen was fined $17,750 for a late hit on Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Linebacker Jasper Brinkley was fined for a facemask that didn't draw a penalty. He'll lose $7,875.

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was fined a second straight week because of an illegal horse-collar tackle. Urlacher, who has an injured hamstring, will not play against the Vikings this week.

NFL fines Vikings' Griffen, Guion

A league spokesman said Vikings defensive linemen Letroy Guion and Everson Griffen were fined a total of $23,625 this week, the Star Tribune reports. Guion had to pay $7,875 for roughing the passer in Sunday's 26-23 win over Jacksonville. Griffen was fined $15,750 for roughing the passer by making helmet-to-helmet contact.
