A bit of sad news after the euphoria that was Sunday evening, the Vikings are set to lose Pat Shurmur as their offensive coordinator.

The man who helped mastermind the Vikings' insane victory over the New Orleans Saints is heading to New York to be the head coach of the Giants, according to NFL.com reporter Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport says the Giants have chosen Shurmur over New England Patriots' OC Josh McDaniels, who is now expected to be named head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

The 52 year old is expected to accept any offer he receives from the Giants, which would mean he'd headed for his second head coaching position, having overseen the Cleveland Browns from 2011-2012.

He moved to the Vikings from the Philadelphia Eagles in January 2016 initially as the tight ends coach, taking over as OC when Norv Turner resigned halfway through the 2016 season.

The Vikings offense has gone from strength-to-strength under his guidance this season, prompting his name to be floated for one of the many head coach vacancies that arose at the end of the 2017 regular season.

He's arguably snagged the offer of the bunch, being tapped to revive a Giants franchise with a huge fanbase, albeit with an offense that's in serious need of a reboot.

Here's hoping he heads to New York with a Super Bowl winners ring on his hand.
