Vikings owner Zygi Wilf sued in New Jersey over real estate company

Vikings owner Zygi Wilf is facing a lawsuit over real estate dealings in New Jersey.

According to the Associated Press, Wilf and his father were sued Thursday by the estate of a former partner who was allegedly cut out of a real estate deal by the Wilfs.

The son and daughter of the late Meyer Gold claim their father was a one-third owner of the company, called Amchu, but has received nothing from rental income for the 122-unit adult residential complex where rents average $1,600 a month.

"Unfortunately, Mr. Wilf thinks he can breach his duty of loyalty to his partners by diverting to himself property and opportunities that belong to his partners and not to him," Ronald Riccio, the attorney representing the Gold estate told the Asbury Press. "He's done it before and he's doing it again."

In 2013 a New Jersey judge ordered that Wilf, his brother, and cousin pay more than $100 million over a broken deal to develop an apartment complex.

The AP reports an attorney for the Wilfs, Peter Harvey, said the lawsuit lacks merit: "You can't stop someone from filing a lawsuit no matter how ridiculous and meritless the lawsuit is, and this is both ridiculous and meritless," he said.

Harvey told the AP that Gold didn't want to participate in the residential project and noted that even if the lawsuit had merit, it was filed after the six-year statute of limitations had passed.
